"Tremendous Goodies" for Women

3/28/2025

This is a statement that the current president recently stated in an interview.
"We're going to have tremendous, tremendous goodies in the bag for women too, the women between the fertilization and all of the other things that we're talking about. It's going to be, it's going to be great."
This was said at a White House event celebrating Women's History Month. A celebration, I might add, that the rest of the federal government was told to no longer celebrate cause it was "DEI." Note the hypocrisy.

"Tremendous goodies" for women. Let's see, what goodies could be in store for us.

Picture
Pregnancy Laws. With the overturning of Roe V. Wade and some conservative states already banning abortion, we can expect them to try to push a federal abortion ban, further removing our rights to full bodily autonomy. Along with the ban, there will be federal laws citing miscarriage as a crime, taking an already heart-breaking moment for women and making it worse by sending them to jail. Bill H.R. 722 - the Life at Conception Act - is the start of this.

IVF/Fertilization Laws. The president claimed he would be known as the "fertilization president." Sure, during his campaign, he stated that he wanted the government to fund IVF, but as we know, he lies. Especially since those around him don't support it. In fact, H.R. 722 states that life begins at the moment of fertilization.  This means that fertilized eggs that are not used during IVF and subsequently destroyed would be considered a crime. So, a woman, already struggling with wanting to be a mom, can be thrown in jail if she has any fertilized eggs left over from unsuccessful IVF attempts.

Birth Control Laws. And by birth control, I mean those targeted for women because, let's face it, they won't be getting rid of those targeted for men (like condoms).  In this category are pills, IUDs, Plan B, and other types of abortion pills. We already know that Plan B and other types of abortion pills have been banned in some conservative states as part of their overall abortion ban. These pills will be included when they attempt a federal abortion ban.

Standard birth control pills and IUDs are designed to prevent pregnancy, so why would these be such an issue for conservatives when their job is to avoid the possibility of an abortion. Why, to control women and take away our agency, of course. We already know that the GOP doesn't want the ACA requirement when it comes to birth control. In fact, they don't want the ACA. We already know that Christians believe birth control is a sin.  So, combine them together, and
at some point, you will see an attempt to federally ban standard birth control.

Voter Registration Laws. This is already taking place, with the current EO signed by the president and the introduction of the Save Act which will go for a vote at some point. Both are under the guise of "stopping illegal voting," but what they really are is voter suppression, especially woman voters.

In both instances, voters will be required to bring a second form of ID along side their license to prove citizenship, either a passport or birth certificate. Here's the issue, millions upon millions of married women either don't have a passport or have a birth certificate that no longer matches their license. And a marriage license, which is usually used to show the change in last name, is not considered a valid form of ID. This means, that if the EO and Save Act passes, millions of women will no longer be able to vote.

These are just four of the many "tremendous goodies" that await women in the United States. This list doesn't mention changes that affect everyone, including women, like cuts in medical funding for cancer research, elimination of social security and Medicare/Medicaid, and removal of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs, to name a few.

Is America great yet?
