Warming: This post happily violates the list of words the current administration deems too "woke" to use. RE: The New York Times Article. Contrary to what misogyny would have you believe, being a feminist doesn't mean I hate men. I don't secretly think that men are inferior to women. I don't want to remove men from leadership positions or turn all men into househusbands. Being a Feminist means that I want all of us to succeed. I want all of us to be leaders or stay-at-home parents if that is what we choose. I want all of us to be seen and treated as equals. And therein lies the problem. As it stands, men have the upper hand. This world caters to them right down to the minuteness of car seat belts. BTW, if you haven't read Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez, I suggest you do so. It's an eye-opener.
Men in the exact same position as women, with the exact same skill set, get paid more. Men go into surgery for the exact same ailment as women and get more information on risks and recovery than women do. A father works too much, and he's just giving his kids a better life. A mother works too much, and she's a bad mom. What I find sad about Feminism is that after 188 years (the concept of Feminism started in 1837), it is still around today and still desperately needed. Women have been fighting for equality for centuries. I have never been able to understand how we got here. At what point did men think women were lesser than? We were hunters and warriors, and now we're considered weak simply because we're female. What's happening with the current administration is just another example of misogyny, a word, I might add, that is not on their banned list, but Feminism is. As well as female and women, not male or men. I always call myself an "equal opportunity" feminist. To me, this means whatever is done to women should be done to men and vice versa.
Feminism and feminists exist because misogyny does. Until this world can eliminate its misogynist behaviors and mindsets, people will continue to fight against it so that everyone is treated equally. Feminism is Pro-Human. Comments are closed.

Welcome to HopefullyMAD. Here, I share my thoughts and opinions on topics that are important to me.
Why did I choose the name HopefullyMAD? Right now, I am MAD at the world and its treatment of human beings. Nobody should be made to feel less than. But I am also Hopeful. Without hope, what is there to fight for? I fight because of my hope for a better world. Why not MADhopeful? Here's why; because I hope that you are MAD too. I hope that you are so MAD that you join me and others in this fight for our rights back. Be hopeful. Be MAD. Be HopefullyMAD. Categories
