Martina Bergman-Österberg

Teacher and Activist

Reformed how physical education was taught to women and opened the first women-only college to teach this subject. Encouraged women to be interested in sports and was a member of the suffrage movement.

Sophie Blanchard

Balloonist
Picture
The first female professional balloonist to make voyages across Europe. Was a pioneer in the craft, constantly pushing the boundaries of what was possible. Was given the title of 'Official Aeronaut of the Restoration' by King Louis XVIII.

Writer and Activist

Avid activist and journalist for women's rights, and is the founder of Jasad, an arts and culture magazine. Also created a TV program about topics such as critical thinking and free expression.

Margaret Thatcher

Politician
Picture
The first woman to be named Prime Minister as the leader of the Conservative Party. The longest-serving Prime Minister of the 20th century. Nicknamed the 'Iron Lady.'

Writer and activist

Wrote about social troubles such as women's oppression and politics. Works include essays, biographies, novels, and autobiographies, which shaped how feminist ​existentialism and feminist theory were seen.
